Not a bad game, but certainly not a good remake.

I think this game is way too fast paced compared to the original. Hell it's even way too fast paced compared to RE2RE. The excuse that the original was short won't work for me. So is the original RE2 and CAPCOM made the game longer by adding new content and zones. I know that you don't have 2 characters in RE3 to make such a long game, but at least the could just not cut down either. The original RE3 felt epic because you were running against the clock and fighting the whole city. You had to visit many different places and solve several puzzles. I mean... no Park? No clockwork? No RPD as Jill? No roaming through the city looking for the next key Item?

Everything feels in media res and you have a lot of assistance from Carlos. Also, Nemesis was a big letdown. (Almost) Everytime you face him you know you're going in for either a scripted scene or an enclosed (boss) battle. For the first time in my life I didn't feel afraid of the Nemesis. Mr. X should have had the behaviour of this version of Nemesis in RE2RE and Nemesis should've had the behaviour of Mr. X in this game.

Also I found myself just saying random things out loud during the stream, guessing what was going to happen next. And to my surprise, those things happened. The lack of mercenaries mode is a big let down too. I was looking forward to have some bonus modes after beating the game but no. At least you can beat the challenges in order to get points and unlock some stuff (new weapons, infinite ammo, extra costumes), but you can only do that by beating the game over and over.

Again, I don't think this is a bad game. Individually, you'll find plenty of good things that are a great improvement comparing to the original and even RE2RE. But as a whole, this game falls short in every way.
